Columbia Under Winter Weather Advisory

The advisory calls for snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for several jurisdictions, including Howard County, for snow, sleet and freezing rain Tuesday.

The advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday for Howard, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.

Up to 1 inch of snow and 0.1 inch ice may accumulate, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will be 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, the weather service reported.

Roads will be covered by snow and ice, making travel dangerous, according to the advisory.

Schools were closed in Howard County Monday due to winter weather lingering from the weekend. There was 0.2 inch of ice on roads in Columbia Sunday evening after a bout of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
