Columbia's Imani Hinson Recieves Hofstra University Award

James C. Metzger-Michael D'Innocenzo Endowed Scholarship at the Center of Civic Engagement.

Imani Hinson, a student from Columbia, has received the 2018 Metzger-D’Innocenzo Endowed Scholarship at the school’s Center of Civic Engagement, acknowledging her outstanding contributions to Hofstra University and the surrounding community. The achievement award is presented to a student who serves as a fellow at the center.

The award is supported annually by New York philanthropist James C. Metzger, who is involved with many New York City area high school and collegiate athletic and education programs. At Hofstra University, Long Island's largest private college and Metzger's alma mater where he was an All-American lacrosse player, the founder, chairman and CEO of The Whitmore Group champions a number of programs. This award for the Center of Civic Engagement honors Michael D'Innocenzo, Metzger’s former Hofstra professor. The Whitmore Group is one of the metropolitan area’s leading independent insurance companies.
