Crash Claims The Life Of 1 Driver, Injures 8 Passengers: Police

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — An early morning fatal crash on I-95 at MD 175 in Jessup Sunday claimed the life of a 38-year-old Prince George’s County man. Jose Manuel Gomez of Glenn Dale was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. He was driving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van at the time of the crash with eight passengers on board. All eight passengers were treated on the scene by Howard County emergency medical service personnel.

The other vehicle involved was a 2015 Acura TLX. The driver has been identified as Dejah Chareese Parker, 23, of Owings Mills. She was not injured during the incident and was the only person in the Acura.

According to the Maryland State Police, Parker was headed northbound when she hit the back of the van. Both vehicles lost control and headed into the center media. The van overturned.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the Maryland State Police. Charges are pending based upon the outcome of the investigation and review by the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office.
