Columbia Association Hires Director of Sport and Fitness

Dan Burns brings about two decades of experience in fitness operations and sales to CA.

Columbia Association (CA) is excited to announce the hiring of Dan Burns as CA’s new director of sport and fitness. Burns brings about two decades of experience in fitness operations and sales to CA. His first day at CA will be June 15, 2015 and will mark a return to the East Coast, where he began his career.

“Having lived in the DC Metro area for 15 years prior to moving to California, I was always aware of how vibrant Columbia is and the wonderful community feel that defines Columbia,” says Burns. “There are so many qualities that make Columbia special and at the center of it all is Columbia Association. I am honored to be joining the CA team and working to make the Columbia community an even better place to live, work and play for the next 50 years.”

Burns has worked since 2006 at Club One in San Francisco, California; most recently as vice president of operations. Previous to his current position, he was channel operations director, regional general manager, and center director for Club One. Burns worked in Virginia for Sport & Health Clubs in regional operations and sales, and as a sales manager and fitness director for Phoenix Fitness & Racquetball before heading to San Francisco.

Burns joins a CA senior leadership team committed to providing fitness and wellness services and options for the community. “I strongly believe that fitness and wellness are an important part of a healthy and happy lifestyle,” he says. “My goal is to provide opportunities for everyone in our community to actively participate and find their place in the community that gives them happiness. My main focus will be working with the sports and fitness leaders of CA to ensure we are delivering industry-leading programs and services resulting in an experience that is deserving of the CA brand.”
