Attendees will also receive a discount on booking future birthday parties. This event is free and open to the public. SplashDown was closed in September 2011 due to public safety concerns following an annual structural engineering inspection. The CA Board of Directors approved funding for the repairs. Following a competitive bidding process, work began in February. Repairs included the removal and replacement of seven flights of stairs and six stair landings in the flume tower. The new stair assembly and the existing supporting steel are being painted with a product that has special corrosion resistant properties. The project will wrap on or before March 15, and SplashDown will re-open for members and community use on Saturday March 17, and Sunday, March 18.

SplashDown is an indoor waterpark consisting of two 40-foot high, 360-foot long slides that twirl and swirl into a large swimming pool; a diving well with a 1-meter springboard and jungle rope swing; and a snack bar. A 42-inch height minimum is required to ride the slide. SplashDown has been voted the “Favorite Place to Have a Party” by Maryland Family magazine and one of the “Top 10 Things to Do in the Washington Area” by the Washington Post. Columbia Swim Center is located at 10400 Cross Fox Lane in Columbia. For more information on CA’s aquatics facilities and programs, please visit ColumbiaPools.org.
