Fabletics Opens in Columbia

The business was cofounded by actress Kate Hudson.

Actress Kate Hudson has been growing her clothing brand Fabletics online, and now she’s opening a handful of brick-and-mortar stores, one of which is right here in Columbia.

Fabetics at The Mall in Columbia opened its doors Friday, according to store’s Facebook page.

Hudson cofounded Fabletics in partnership with personalized shopping service JustFab in 2013, according to People. She says her lifelong passion for design was a natural fit.

“I was always looking for high-quality affordable athletic wear that was also hip—clothes that women would love wearing all day,” Hudson said in a video explaining her vision.

Fabletics sells sports bras, leggings, shorts, tanks, hoodies, jackets, shorts, pants and tops separately or together as ensembles.

The idea was to create “a movement to help women” get energized about healthy lifestyles and feel part of a community, according to Hudson.

Having actual stores will help people connect in a physical community and satisfy the desire many shoppers have to try on clothing before making a purchase, PopSugar reported.

Other locations are slated to open soon in Canoga Park, Calif.; Bridgewater, N.J.; Newark, Del.; Cincinnati; and St. Louis.

There is reportedly going to be a grand opening celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, at The Mall in Columbia, 10300 Little Patuxent Parkway.
