Pedestrian Killed On Route 1 In Jessup: Police
A man was fatally hit by a car Sunday night while walking in the travel part of the road, Howard County police said.

JESSUP, MD — A pedestrian was killed Sunday night on US 1/Washington Boulevard in Jessup. Route 1 was closed for approximately four hours in the area during the investigation.
At 9:03 p.m., police said that a 2016 Hyundai Elantra was headed south on Route 1 when the car hit a man who was in the roadway.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene, on Route 1 north of Hicks Road, authorities reported.

The driver, who was uninjured, remained at the scene, officials said.
Route 1 was closed to southbound traffic in the area of Assateague Drive.

After 1 a.m., the Maryland State Highway Administration reported that Route 1 had reopened.
