Fire In Harpers Choice Started In Chimney: Officials

Howard County firefighters were called to a townhouse fire Tuesday night off Harpers Farm Road.

COLUMBIA, MD — A chimney fire broke out in Columbia on Tuesday night, officials reported. Nobody was injured in the blaze, which firefighters said they quickly brought under control.

Crews were dispatched to the 5400 block of El Camino after 7 p.m., according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Officials said they controlled the blaze at the two-story townhouse, which was located at the end of a group. Then they checked to make sure it had not spread.

Everyone inside had evacuated before firefighters arrived, authorities reported. There were no injuries, according to officials.
