Firefighters Battle Townhouse Blaze During Snowstorm

Five residents have been displaced after their townhouse caught on fire early Saturday morning. The fire continues to be investigated.

According to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, crews battled the blaze for 1.5 hours until they were able to reign it in. Firefighters remained at the scene to make sure the fire didn't reignite.

COLUMBIA, MD — A townhouse caught on fire Saturday around 2:05 a.m. in the 9800 block of Rainleaf Court.

According to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, crews battled the blaze for 1.5 hours until they were able to reign it in. Firefighters remained at the scene to make sure the fire didn't reignite. No firefighters were injured, the department stated.

Five residents were evacuated and evaluated by EMTs and declined going to the hospital via ambulance. The American Red Cross will be helping the five displaced residents, the fire department noted.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
