Former Atholton Teacher Charged in Sex Acts with Minor: Police
Employee of Howard County Public School System is accused of engaging in sex acts with a boy he met online, police said.

A Howard County Public School System employee has been charged with multiple sex offenses in connection with a minor he met online, and authorities are investigating whether there have been any additional victims, police said Wednesday.
Christopher Russell Fox, 36, of Randallstown, was charged Monday in connection with sex acts that allegedly occurred on July 10, the Howard County Police Department reported.
Police said the charges stem from an incident over the summer involving a 14-year-old boy whom Fox met online. The boy reported to authorities that Fox engaged in various sex acts with him after the two met in person, police said.

When they were chatting online, Fox told the boy that he was 16 years old, according to authorities, who said that the 14-year-old was surprised to find an adult when they met and so he called police to report the incident once he returned home.
Fox has been a technology teacher since 2003 with the Howard County Public School System, police said.

Due to a police investigation, he was taken out of the classroom in April 2013 and has been working in the Building Services division in a warehouse-type environment, according to Rebecca Amani-Dove, spokeswoman for the Howard County Public School System. Because of the ongoing nature of that investigation, she could not comment further.
Previously, Fox’s assignments included Atholton High School, Folly Quarter Middle School and Mount View Middle School, according to police. In addition, Fox was a basketball coach at Glenelg High School from 2006 to 2007, police said.

On Wednesday, police said Fox has been barred from Howard County Public School System property and has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.

Detectives had been investigating the case since the summer and received forensic results recently that led to the charges, police said. Fox was charged Monday with four counts of a third-degree sex offense and one count of soliciting a minor on July 10, court records show.
Fox turned himself in to police Tuesday night and is being held at the Howard County Detention Center, according to police.
Police think Fox may have solicited other boys online using false names. Anyone with information may contact police at 410-313-STOP.
