Free movies and concerts all summer in Downtown Columbia
Columbia Association's Lakefront Summer Festival offers a packed schedule of 25 movies and 53 concerts

Great family entertainment is at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront all summer long — and best of all, it’s free. With a packed schedule of 25 movies and 53 concerts, Columbia Association’s Lakefront Summer Festival includes family-friendly options nearly every day of the week.
The festival begins Monday, June 17 and continues into September. A complete schedule can be found at ColumbiaAssociation.org/lakefrontfestival.
Movies will be screened at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront on Mondays and Fridays from Monday, June 17 through Monday, August 26 (there will be no movie on Friday, July 5, the designated rain date for the annual fireworks show). All films are closed-captioned. Films shown on Mondays are rated G and PG, while Friday movies are rated PG and PG-13. From August 31 through September 7, CA will show Marvel Cinematic Universe movies on Fridays, Saturdays, and one Sunday.

All showings will begin at dusk, about 8:30pm. Movie nights have been hosted by Tom “Mr. B” Brzezinski for the past 48 years and are sponsored by Columbia Association, with a generous grant from the Columbia Film Society.

Also, 47 nights and six afternoons of music are scheduled from June 18 through September. Concerts and performances are held on almost every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday through August 17, with additional concerts on four Sundays in September.
Start times are as follows:
- Tuesday evenings, 7:30pm.
- Wednesday afternoons from June 26-July 31, noon.
- Wednesday evenings from June 19-August 14, 7:30pm.
- Thursday evenings, 7:30pm. No concert on July 4.
- Saturday evenings, 7:30pm
- Sunday evenings through August 11, 6:30pm
- Sunday afternoons from September 8-29, 3pm
Five Tuesdays in July — July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23 and July 30 — will feature talented youth musicians performing at CA’s Teen Open Mic nights. Sign-up begins at 6:45pm and performances are first-come, first-served. No bands with drum sets will be allowed. For more information, please email CALakefrontFestival@gmail.com.
And, finally, CA’s annual “Dancin’ Under the People Tree” free dance lessons will be hosted every Friday from June 21 through September 6. Instruction with music will be held under the People Tree from 7-8pm, with dances that are fun both for beginners and those with experience. And when the dance session ends, the movie begins. In case of inclement weather, we’ll dance inside nearby at Haven on the Lake.
