Glen Mar Golf Classic Raises $26,000 for Grassroots
The sixth annual Glen Mar Golf Classic attracted a field of 128 to the Timbers at Troy.

The 6th Annual Glen Mar Golf Classic at Timbers at Troy was a huge success. It sold out, fielding 128 golfers, and brought in over $26,000 to support Grassroots programs and services.
The Glen Mar Golf Classic Team organizing the event included Libby Boswell, Phil Enstice, John Hampshire, Barbara Julian, Don Lee and Sue Shipp. The lunch was provided by George and Sally Dohner.
Support for the event came from Presenting Sponsors The Columbia Bank, Ourisman Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram of Clarksville, and Lew and Sue Shipp; Platinum Sponsor Ed Frere; Gold Sponsors, George and Sally Dohner, Eggspectation, Esther’s Place Assisted Living Facilities, Glen Mar Tuesday AM Men’s Group, M&T Bank, VSS, and David Ward; Silver Sponsors Club SciKidz Maryland, Glen Mar Thursday AM Women’s Group, Rich and Carol Grove, Master Flooring and Remodeling, Offit Kurman Attorneys at Law, and Jean Moon & Associates. Don and Pat Lee were Putting Contest Sponsors. Whole Foods Market provided the bags for the golfers’ snacks.

Tournament winners included Yoko Horner, women’s longest drive; James Palogi, men’s longest drive; Brian Derby, men’s closest to the pin; Bernie Richards, Marshall Boswell, Carole Contel, Circle of Cash. The winning women’s team for the second year in a row included Lois Fitzgerald, Janice Retier, Muriel Turner and Jenny Archer. The winning men’s team included Matt Poole, Tom Ronnenburg, Marshall Boswell and Richard Down.
Next year’s Glen Mar Golf Classic is set for May 14, 2018.

Celebrating the successful conclusion of the 6th Annual Glen Mar Golf Classic were (from l.) Richard Down, Matt Poole, Don Lee and Tom Ronnenburg. Down, Poole, Ronnenburg and Marshall Boswell were members of the winning men’s foursome. Lee was a member of the The Glen Mar Golf Classic Team that organized the event.
