Graffiti Discovered On School Property In Columbia

Two swastikas were found at the entrance of the bus loop at Phelps Luck Elementary School, a report indicates. They've since been removed.

COLUMBIA, MD — Howard County Police are investigating an incident involving two swastikas spray-painted at the entrance of the bus loop at Phelps Luck Elementary School.

Located at 5370 Old Stone Court in Columbia, the graffiti was discovered last Wednesday and the school grounds department removed the graffiti, WBAL reported.

"After reviewing camera footage from outside the building, it appears the graffiti was present on or before August 7, 2026," school principal Dr. Shawna Holden said in a community update sent to families that was shared by WBAL. "This was the week before school staff returned to the building for the 2026–2027 school year and several weeks before students returned."
