Grassroots Day Resource Center Seeks Community Help

Volunteer doctors and groups to cook and serve food are needed to help out.

The Grassroots Day Resource Center at the Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center in Jessup served 1,083 people in FY18. People come to the center for meals, showers, support services, limited medical services and other help. The Day Resource Center is dependent upon support from local residents to help these vulnerable members of the community.

Volunteer doctors are currently needed for the medical clinic. For more information, contact Melina Becker, melinda@grassrootscrisis.org.



Workplace colleagues, families, faith communities and other groups are being sought to fix and serve a meal for 60 people on the second Monday of the month, from 3:45-5:45 p.m. Contact Susan Hayes, susan@grassroots.org for more information.



The center is also looking for donations of canned condensed soup, canned chili and Chef Boyardee, canned meats and salmon (no tuna needed), canned vegetables (except green beans), and canned fruit.



You can drop your donations off at the Day Resource Center, 10390 Guilford Road, First Floor, Jessup, MD, 20794. The Day Resource Center is open Monday and Wednesday, 2-6 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
