Broadway Star From Howard County Comes Home To Appear In 'Frozen' At Hippodrome

Howard County native Caroline Bowman stars as Elsa in Disney's hit Broadway musical "Frozen." Bowman will perform in MD this summer.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Starring in a Disney fairytale feels like a real-life fairytale for Howard County native Caroline Bowman. She's performed in shows all around the world, but will star in Disney's hit Broadway musical, "Frozen," at the Hippodrome.

"These shows are so magical and then just growing up with these stories and watching the cartoon movies and having them be so a part of my life, it's really incredible that I get to do this as my job," Bowman told WBAL.

Her mom performed at a community theater in Howard County, which is what hooked Bowman. She soon joined her mom on stage through community theater and was involved in drama and musical theater at Glenelg High School. She even performed locally at Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Howard County.

"So when I was 16 years old I would finish a school day, go to play practice for the high school show and then head to Toby’s for my show at night. It was hard worked, but I loved it and was willing to work hard for it," she told the Maryland Theatre Guide in an interview.

Bowman studied musical theater at Penn State University, she told WBAL, and has since performed in several Broadway shows such as "Wicked" and "Kinky Boots."

"My mom and I would blast Broadway musicals in the car every day and we would take trips to New York at least twice a year to go see Broadway shows," Bowman said.

She's currently gliding across the stage as Elsa in a nationwide tour, but is most excited about her performances in her home town. "Frozen" will be at the Hippodrome from June 7-18.
