Horseshoe Casino Announces Opening Date

Baltimore business near M&T Bank Stadium plans grand opening, two soft openings.

Leaders of Maryland's fifth casino recently revealed when the business plans to open. Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore City will start welcoming customers officially for its grand opening on Aug. 26.

Leading up to that, the casino will be open to the public on Aug. 18 and 21 during a soft opening so the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission can assess it for compliance with regulations, the Baltimore Business Journal reported.

For now, Horseshoe is still under construction at 1525 Russell Street, near M&T Bank Stadium. The lettering bearing its name went up on the building last week, according to the casino.

Las Vegas-based Ceasar's Entertainment is behind the project, which cost $442 million.

When complete, the gambling center will house 2,500 slots, 100 table games and 25 poker tables connected to a 3,300-spot garage via skywalk.

Inside the casino, Guy Fieri's Baltimore Kitchen & Bar, Ruby 8 Noodle and Sushi Bar, Johnny Sánchez taqueria and Jack Binion’s Steakhouse will add to the entertainment. A food court called the "Baltimore Marketplace" will feature local offerings including Heavy Seas, Lenny's Deli, the Mallow Bar, Pie-Zetta and Tark's at the 'Shoe.

According to PressBox, Horseshoe Casino will also contain Charm City's first 24-hour bar—called "14forty"—which will be open daily.
