How Much Snow Did Columbia Get?

New layer of snow tops weekend accumulation in Howard County.

After the recent snow, the greatest amount of accumulation in Howard County was in Columbia, where 6 inches of snow were recorded, according to preliminary numbers from the National Weather Service.

The unofficial snow totals from Howard County as of 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17:

  • Columbia—6 inches; reported at 7:45 a.m.
  • Northeast Scaggsville—4 inches; reported at 12:21 p.m.
  • Columbia—4 inches; reported at 7:45 and 8:30 a.m.
  • Southeast Simpsonville—3.5 inches; reported at 8:44 a.m.
  • North Columbia—3.4 inches; reported at 5:29 a.m.
  • Southwest Savage—3.4 inches; reported at 7:30 a.m.
  • Ellicott City—3.3 inches; reported at 7:46 a.m.
  • Highland—3.3 inches; reported at 7:40 a.m.
  • North Savage—3.3 inches; reported at 7:30 a.m.
  • Southwest Ellicott City—3.1 inches; reported at 6:30 a.m.
  • West Elkridge—3.1 inches; reported at 6:54 a.m.
  • Northwest Columbia—3 inches; reported at 9:27 a.m.

Snow on Top of Snow

The latest snowfall came on top of the Valentine’s Day weekend storm, which delivered high winds and a bit of snow in the region.

Howard County had some of the highest snow totals in the state in that round, according to unofficial reports from Saturday night: Simpsonville got 4.1 inches of snow and Columbia had 4 inches.

Wind gusts in Columbia topped out at 53 mph at approximately 3:45 a.m. Sunday, according to the weather service.
