Howard County Primary Election Guide 2018

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The primary for the 2018 election is Tuesday, June 26. Here is a guide to polling places, candidates and more to get prepped for primary day in Howard County.

Polls are open on primary day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. That is on Tuesday, June 26.

The Board of Elections recommends voting between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to avoid delays at the polls.

Here are some of the big races.

Maryland Governor

• Democrat: Rushern Baker III, Ralph Jaffe, Ben Jealous, James Hugh Jones II, Rich Madaleno, Alec Ross, Jim Shea, Krish O'Mara Vignarajah. (The late Kevin Kamenetz will be on the ballot but his lieutenant governor pick, Valerie Ervin, pulled out of the race just before the start of early voting.)
• Republican: Larry Hogan (unopposed)

County Executive

• Democrat: Calvin Ball, Harry Dunbar
• Republican: Allan Kittleman (unopposed)

County Council

• District 1 Democrat: Elizabeth "Liz" Walsh, Jon Weinstein
• District 1 Republican: Raj Kathuria
• District 2 Democrat: Opel Jones
