With snow emergency announced, Howard County Public School System takes steps to keep people off roads.

All public schools in Howard County will be closed on Friday, Jan. 22, according to an announcement from the school system.

A state of emergency takes effect in Maryland starting at 7 a.m. on Friday.
“This is predicted to be the worst storm our state has seen since Snowmageddon,” Gov. Larry Hogan said Thursday afternoon. He urged Marylanders to get prepared ahead of time and to use common sense and stay off roads once the snow begins.
