Indecency, Car Thefts, Street Robberies: Columbia Crime
Man exposed himself at Hot Topic, shoplifter turns violent off Dobbin Road and other crimes reported to Howard County police.

The Howard County Police Department provided the following information. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Two men exposed themselves at The Mall in Columbia recently, according to police.
Police said an older white man wearing a gray shirt was seen exposing himself at Hot Topic on Friday, Oct. 16.

After he was spotted at approximately 6:26 p.m., police reported the man left the scene.
Also at the mall in the 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway last week, Macy’s employees said a man in the dressing room area was exposing himself, according to police.

A 31-year-old from the 10900 block of Bushwood Way in Columbia was charged with indecent exposure, police said. That incident was reported at 5:01 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, according to police.
Vehicle Thefts
A 1999 Toyota Camry was stolen from the 10400 block of Hickory Ridge Road. The theft was reported at 6:42 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18.
A 2015 Chevy Traverse was stolen from the 9400 block of Pinecone Row. The theft occurred between Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18.
Two Robberies with Assault
Two men who knew one another got into an argument in the 5000 block of Campus Drive. One assaulted the other and stole his cell phone, police said. There were not any major injuries in the robbery, which occurred at approximately 12:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
A man was assaulted and robbed in the 5400 block of Harpers Farm Road. He had been walking through a residential parking lot when a vehicle stopped and a man got out and pulled the victim inside, where police said he was assaulted by three individuals and robbed of his cell phone, wallet and keys. The suspects then pushed the man out of the vehicle. The robbery was reported at 9:55 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9.
In the Harpers Farm Road robbery, police said the suspects were three males: a white 17-20-year-old of average height with short blond hair, 250-280 pounds; a black 16-17-year-old with a slight mustache and black hooded sweatshirt, approximately 5’9” tall; and a black 16-17-year-old with a black hooded sweatshirt.
Shoplifting Suspect Turns Violent
A 30-year-old Ellicott City man from the 3200 block of Halcyon Court was charged with armed robbery and related offenses in connection with a shoplifting attempt at Target.
Police said the man tried to leave Target in the 6100 block of Dobbin Road without paying for merchandise. When an employee confronted him, he pulled out a knife. The incident occurred at 5:42 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12.
Four Charged in Burglary Through Garage Door
Three Columbians and one Ellicott City resident were charged with home invasion, burglary and malicious destruction of property in connection with a burglary in Elkridge, police said.
A neighbor saw two young men and two young women pry open a garage door in the 7400 block of Singers Way at approximately 9:07 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, police said. They drove away after taking property from the residence and were stopped by police, who arrested them.
A 21-year-old man from the 5300 block of High Tor Hill, an 18-year-old man from the 9000 block of Moving Water Lane and a 17-year-old girl from Columbia were charged, in addition to a 20-year-old woman from the 13100 block of Williamfield Drive in Ellicott City.
Burglars Enter Through Sliding Doors, Unlocked Window
Sneakers and a backpack were stolen from a residence in the 8700 block of Hayshed Lane. Between 1:20 and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, police said a neighbor saw a group of young men knocking on the door to the residence. The burglar(s) got through an unlocked window, ransacked the living room and took the sneakers and backpack.
Cell phones, shoes, jewelry and clothing were stolen from the 5900 block of Turnabout Lane. The burglary was reported at 6:24 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, and there were no signs of forced entry.
Cash and jewelry were stolen from the 5400 block of Fallriver Row Court after someone got in through a sliding glass door. The burglary was reported at 6:21 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12.
A sliding glass door was shattered in a burglary in the 9300 block of Ourtime Lane. The suspect(s) stole electronics, jewelry, keys and a bulletproof vest. The incident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9.
A rear basement window was shattered with a stone in the 5900 block of The Bowl sometime between 8:10 and 11:10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. Nothing was reported missing.
Late Reported
A burglary was reported after the fact in the 6500 block of Quiet Hours. According to police, the pane of a sliding glass door was destroyed with “an object.” The incident occurred between Sept. 9 and Sept. 16, and the suspect(s) did not get inside, according to police.
