Inmate Found After Walking Away from Route 32 Road Crew: Officials

A prisoner who disappeared while cleaning up MD 32 was found in Baltimore City, according to public safety officials.

JESSUP, MD – An inmate who walked off a road crew in Howard County in late March was found Monday afternoon in Baltimore City, correctional officials reported.

Andrew Losiewski, 27, had been cleaning up MD 32 near the Broken Land Parkway exit when he disappeared on Thursday, March 24, according to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

Baltimore Police took Losiewski into custody around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 4, according to state public safety officials, who said he was found on Pennsylvania and North avenues in Baltimore. Police saw the man and asked for identification, which led to the discovery that he was the missing inmate, a corrections spokesman told The Baltimore Sun.

Losiewski had been serving a five-year sentence at the Dorsey Run Correctional Facility in Jessup for a theft scheme, officials reported.

Court records show he had served more than three years of his sentence when the walk-off occurred.

Because of the escape, Losiewski may face an additional three to 10 years in prison, officials said.

Losiewski was being detained at the Maryland Reception Diagnostic and Classification Center, authorities reported.
