Iron Bridge Wine Company Among Best Wine Restaurants: OpenTable

COLUMBIA, MD — Iron Bridge Wine Company is among the best restaurants in the country for wine, according to a recent survey. The eatery off Route 108 made it on to OpenTable's list of the 100 Best Restaurants For Wine Lovers in America.

The list was compiled from more than 12 million reviews of 28,000 restaurants by OpenTable users between Aug. 1, 2017, and July 31, 2018, according to a statement from the online reservation website.

Here are some excerpts from OpenTable reviews of Iron Bridge Wine Company over the past few months:

• "The food and wine were excellent."
• "We have always had a great meal paired with a great bottle of wine."
• "Iron Bridge Wine Company is our favorite local place to go for a special night out. The service is outstanding, the wines are wonderful, the food is excellent...overall it was a nice quiet place to enjoy our anniversary meal."
• "Great service, great food, great wine selection."
• "We chose a bottle of red wine from the last month's bargain list and were delighted with the flavor for the price. We took home six more bottles of that wine."

The restaurant has an array of offerings on its wine list and also features a wine of the day.

Iron Bridge Wine Company owners Rob and Steve Wecker say when they opened the restaurant in 2003, they wanted to create a place that was friendly and relaxing to enjoy great wines.

The Howard County eatery was one of four Maryland restaurants to make OpenTable's list for oenophiles. Others were Charleston in Baltimore, Petit Louis in Roland Park and Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Annapolis.

"From deep dives with sommeliers to approachable tastings to find the perfect pairing for any meal, these winning restaurants have earned rave reviews for their stellar dining experiences and impressive wine offerings," OpenTable Dining Officer Caroline Potter said. "Whether you're a wine aficionado or a novice looking to expand your palate, this year's list showcases a variety of restaurants that carefully curate the finest wine selections to complement their menus."

Of making it onto the list, Iron Bridge posted on its Facebook page: "We don't want to toot our own horn, but 'toot, toot'!"
