Have you noticed the towering structure in downtown Columbia near Lake Kittamaqundi?

COLUMBIA, MD — The new building that has been under construction for years across Little Patuxent Parkway from the Mall in Columbia is now open. Officials recently cut the ribbon at Little Patuxent Square, a towering structure that will house residential and commercial space.

Little Patuxent Square encompasses 160 apartments (from studios to three bedrooms) and 130,000 square feet of office space as well as retail space. The apartments are known as Lakehouse and range from $1,515 to more than $3,000 a month. They are set to be available for lease in late June.

Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, has leased all of the office space, according to County Executive Allan Kittleman.
