'Living My Dream': River Hill Grad After Scoring Ravens TD

Michael Campanaro helped put points on the board in Baltimore's 48-17 win over Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A River Hill High School grad made his first touchdown with the Baltimore Ravens Sunday, which was also his first reception as a member of the NFL.

Wide receiver Michael Campanaro had two receptions for a total of 28 yards in Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, yielding one first down and one touchdown, according to ESPN.

“It felt good to get that first catch and have it be a touchdown,” the rookie told The Baltimore Sun.

It was the first time in the game as a Raven for Campanaro, who was the leader in receptions at Wake Forest and all-time leader in scoring and rushing as a member of the River Hill Hawks, according to Pressbox, which reported he also played youth football with the Columbia Ravens.

When Campanaro was at River Hill, the Hawks were undefeated in 2007 and 2008, securing a pair of class 2A state titles, The Washington Post reported. Campanaro was named Howard County Offensive Player of the Year and Washington Post All-Met Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 when he was a senior, according to Wake Forest.

After his reception in the end zone Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa—which contributed to the Raven’s 48-17 win over the Bucs—Campanaro posted an Instagram photo with the message: “Living My Dream! GodIsGood #RavensNation.”

According to ESPN, Clarksville resident Campanaro is the closest the Ravens have drafted to a Baltimorean.
