Local Business Owners Donate To Howard County General Hospital

A Columbia couple's $500,000 donation will go toward Howard County General Hospital's $45 million renovation and addition project.

COLUMBIA, MD — Local business entrepreneuers Cyndi and Ron Gula have donated $500,000 to Howard County General Hospital to be used toward the medical provider's $45 million renovation and addition. The Gulas are co-founders of the Columbia-based cybersecurity company Tenable.

The couple, who live and work in Howard County, have special ties to the hospital. They decided to donate after learning that the hospital was falling short of the money it needs to complete the project. So far Howard County General Hospital has raised $9.2 million. The capital campaign has two years left to raise the remaining $5.8 million.

ā€œOur children were born at Howard County General Hospital, so we always had a connection,ā€ Cyndi Gula said in a statement. ā€œBut it wasn’t until we learned about the hospital’s critical need for philanthropy that we considered the impact our support would have on health and wellness in Howard County."
