Lunar New Year Celebration Jan. 25 At Mall In Columbia

The Jan. 25 event will feature more than a dozen music and dance performances along with cultural demonstrations and ethnic food.

COLUMBIA, MD — Celebrate the Lunar New Year Saturday at the Mall in Columbia with Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, First Lady Yumi Hogan, Senator Clarence Lam and Council Chairperson Deb Jung. The Lunar New Year is a traditional holiday in Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures. The Jan. 25 event will feature remarks from elected officials, more than a dozen music and dance performances along with cultural demonstrations and ethnic food in celebration of the Year of the Rat.

“The Lunar New Year is a wonderful tradition for many residents in our growing Asian Community,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball in a statement. “We’re delighted to continue this event at The Mall in Columbia, where all our Howard County residents and visitors can partake in the festivities, spend time with family, and celebrate the new year and all that it brings.”

The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on the lower level of the mall in front of Lord & Taylor.
