Mall in Columbia Says Open-Air Wing is Completely Leased

The Mall in Columbia has completely leased its new open-air lifestyle wing, as two restaurants and one retail store plan upcoming openings, according to a statement issued Tuesday.

The open-air wing is in the area where L.L. Bean used to be and is accessible without entering the mall interior.

On Thursday, Seasons 52 will open the doors to its wine bar and restaurant, where dishes are inspired by seasonal ingredients. There’s an extensive list of wines in the restaurant, which spans a more than 9,000-square-foot space.

ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, a restaurant developed by Chipotle, will open Aug. 25. It will feature noodle bowls with sauces, meats, herbs and vegetables, in an Asian fast food restaurant. There are seven other ShopHouse restaurants in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. The Columbia restaurant will occupy a nearly 2,500-square-foot space, according to the statement.

Women’s accessories retailer lou lou will open in fall 2014. Other lou lou shops are in Massachusetts, Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland. At The Mall in Columbia, the shop will be in 1,873-square-feet.

“With the signing of our newest retailer—lou lou—our 70,000-square-foot expansion wing is now fully leased,” The Mall in Columbia’s Senior General Manager Ashley Venable said. “This milestone marks years of planning and redevelopment efforts which signify our ability to grow and change to meet the needs of our community.”

Venable noted that the mall’s expansion will be one of the first completed projects outlined in Columbia’s 30-year master plan.

Other Recent Additions

Maggiano’s Little Italy opened June 9, with a special pasta-cutting ceremony in the open-air wing.

A Microsoft specialty store opened on June 12 near Lord & Taylor on the lower level.

An AT&T Mobility concept store opened in the outdoor wing April 1.

Opening Soon Inside the Mall

Build-a-Bear Workshop will open Aug. 13 above the food court in the upper level, outside J.C.Penney.

Pink is opening this fall, when Victoria’s Secret reopens as well.

Crabtree & Evelyn will reopen this winter.
