Man Convicted In Shooting Death Of Girlfriend's Father In Columbia

Corey Conaway has been found guilty by a jury in the shooting death of 67-year-old Perry Comeau. Conaway was dating his daughter, HCPD said.

COLUMBIA, MD — A Howard County jury has found Corey Conaway guilty in the February 2024 shooting death of 67-year-old Perry Comeau.

The verdict was announced Friday.

Conaway was convicted of first-degree murder, firearms charges, attempting to influence a witness and obstruction of justice following the trial in the Circuit Court for Howard County.

On Feb. 8, 2024, Howard County Police were called to a home located in the 9500 block of Half Dollar Court at approximately 10:49 p.m. and found Comeau with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the investigation, Conaway was in a relationship with Comeau’s daughter. Detectives identified Conaway as a suspect during the investigation and determined that Conaway and Comeau had been involved in an earlier conflict.

Leading up to a prior trial date, Conaway wrote a letter to Comeau’s daughter instructing her how to testify. Howard County Police recovered the letter and Conaway was charged with attempting to influence a witness and obstruction of justice.

Conaway's sentencing has been scheduled for Dec. 17.
