Man Convicted In Theft Of $92K Worth Of Diamonds: Prosecutor

A 64-year-old Baltimore man has been found guilty of stealing $92K worth of diamonds. The case was prosecuted by a Howard County prosecutor.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 64-year-old Baltimore man has been found guilty by a Talbot County jury in connection to the theft of $92,000 worth of diamonds from Shearer the Jeweler in Easton.

According to court documents, Ondray Michael Gwynn conspired with four other men who distracted store employees while Gwynn headed to the back of the store, where he stole two boxes of loose diamonds worth thousands of dollars from a safe on March 5, 2022. Then the men fled the scene.

Police analyzed surveillance footage video from inside of the store, video footage from the surrounding areas in Easton, items seized pursuant to search warrants, as well as cell tower phone records to identify Gwynn.

Gwynn faces charges of theft $25,000 to under $100,000 and conspiracy-theft $25,000 to under $100,000. The case was prosecuted by Howard County's Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Reva Chopra at the request of the Talbot County Office of the State’s Attorney.
