Man Dies By Accidental Gunfire In Jessup: Police
A man died as he was readying to go target shooting with friends over the weekend, Howard County police said.

JESSUP, MD - A man was killed over the weekend when a weapon accidentally fired in Jessup, according to police.
Wyatt Haggerty, 21, of Boonsboro, was at a friend's house on Saturday, July 22, when officials reported he was hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
Haggerty and four friends were at a residence in the 8900 block of Good Harvest Court preparing to go target shooting. They were getting ready to take their firearms from the residence when one gun accidentally fired, according to officials.

"...one of the guns discharged as it was being put into its case," the Howard County Police Department said in a statement.
Police said that Haggerty was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Based on preliminary investigation, authorities said the shooting appeared to be accidental.
As of Monday, police reported no charges have been filed.
