Man Driving Stolen Car Crashes, Dies Early Thursday Morning In Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Columbia early Thursday morning. At approximately 3:54 a.m., a 2019 Kia Optima was heading west on Guilford Road at Lambeth Court when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree, the Howard County Police Department reported. The still unidentified driver was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of a neighboring jurisdiction. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, according to a police report.
