HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 55-year-old Columbia man has pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder in connection to a shooting last year.
On Aug. 2, 2022, police responded to a home in the 8400 block of Oak Bush Terrace. An argument between two roommates had unfolded and police were dispatched three times to help solve the argument, according to the Howard County State's Attorney's Office.
But on the fourth call, police found Matthew Ng on the floor inside the home, shot multiple times. They also saw Zongping Zhang leave the home with a semi-automatic shotgun. Witnesses told police they saw Zhang grab the shotgun from his bedroom then shoot Ng as he went up the stairs, prosecutors disclosed. Police later learned that Zhang had bought the shotgun and ammunition from a gun store earlier that afternoon.
