Man Sentenced In Knife Attack On Supportive Living Resident In Howard County

A 30-year-old man has been sentenced for the stabbing of a supportive living resident he thought had stolen his wallet, prosecutors say.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 30-year-old man has pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder in a stabbing attack that happened July 6, 2022.

At around 5 p.m., an employee of a supportive living residence in the 5700 block of Cedar Lane called Howard County Police to report a man who broke through a resident's door carrying a kitchen knife and a second knife. The suspect used the knives to stab the resident. According to the Howard County Police, Bockarie Sawi accused the resident of stealing his wallet.

The victim suffered numerous stab wounds and was taken to Shock Trauma for treatment. Sawi has been sentenced to 30 years in prison suspend all but 11 years. After being released from prison, Sawi will be on supervised probation for five years.
