Marriottsville Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash: Police

The crash happened near Turf Valley on Tuesday morning, Howard County police report.

One driver died in a two-vehicle crash on Frederick Road Tuesday morning, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Larry Edward Sturgill, 72, of Marriottsville, was pronounced dead at the scene, near the intersection of Frederick Road and Homeland Way, police reported.

Police said Sturgill’s 2005 Nissan Frontier rear-ended another vehicle at 8:14 a.m.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 2010 Honda Odyssey, was headed east on Frederick Road and “slowing in traffic” when hit, police said. The 42-year-old Woodstock woman driving the Odyssey was not injured, according to police.

Frederick Road was closed between Marriottsville and Folly Quarter roads for investigation and reopened shortly before 11 a.m., police reported.

According to the report, neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the collision. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause.
