COLUMBIA, MD ā€” Starting Nov. 17, the Merriweather District will be transformed into a winter wonderland complete with outdoor ice skating, a tree lighting ceremony and more.

On Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., there will be the Joy to the District lighting of a 28-foot-tall Christmas tree, the grand opening of the Color Burst Ice Rink, a hot cocoa bar with all the fixings, performances from an a cappella group and figure skaters, plus a kid's corner with crafts, face painting and a station to write letters to Santa.
