Merriweather Prowlers, Exxon Heist, Shooting: Columbia Crime
Shrouded men at Merriweather, 11-year-old arrested at Cradlerock and more than a dozen vehicle break-ins were reported in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, MD — Police said the following crimes were reported in the Columbia area. The information is provided by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Two men with their faces partly covered were seen going into Merriweather Post Pavilion in the 10400 block of Little Patuxent Parkway around 2:36 a.m. on July 31. They ran away without taking anything.
Two men were in the basement of a restaurant in the 6400 block of Dobbin Center Way without permission. The duo — a 39-year-old without a permanent address and a 36-year-old from the 9400 block of Pine Cone Row — were both arrested and charged with burglary and intoxicated endangerment at 9:52 p.m. on July 30.

Multiple vehicles were broken into in the 7000 block of Knighthood Lane overnight between July 29 and July 30. It was unclear what had been stolen.
An investigation is underway after a robbery and shooting were reported at Kilimanjaro Road and Standon Place. When police responded at 8:18 p.m. on July 29, officers found a man who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital, where he said he had accidentally shot himself in his vehicle.

An 11-year-old boy from Columbia was charged with burglary after officers said they saw him and another person trying to get into the Cradlerock Food Mart. When police confronted the suspects in the 6800 block of Cradlerock Way at 12:35 a.m. on July 28, the two ran away. Police found and arrested one. Nothing was stolen.
Purses and cell phones were stolen from a vehicle in the 9800 block of Broken Land Parkway at 1:04 p.m. on July 28.
Two vehicles were stolen from the auto shop at Exxon in the 10600 block of Little Patuxent Parkway. Three burglars pried open a door to get to the service shop at the gas station at 3:30 a.m. on July 27. Both stolen vehicles were found, and investigators identified the suspects: Two Columbia teens — a 19-year-old from Fruitgift Place and an 18-year-old from Basket Run — were arrested, along with a 23-year-old who does not have a fixed address. All were charged with burglary, theft, unauthorized taking of a motor vehicle and related offenses. The 19-year-old was also charged with possession of drugs other than marijuana.
Various items were stolen from 17 vehicles overnight on Window Latch Way, Dark Hawk Circle, Old Hollow Lane, Old Litchfield Lane, Old Farm Lane and Mayfair Circle from July 27 to 28.
Two vehicles were broken into in the 6300 block of Windharp Way overnight from July 27 to 28. It was unclear whether anything was stolen.
A 2016 black Kia Optima with Florida tags IBGV37 was stolen from the 8500 block of Dark Hawk Circle overnight from July 27 to 28.
A 2003 green-gray Dodge Caravan was stolen from the 10400 block of Hickory Ridge Road from July 27 to 28 overnight. It had Maryland tags 3CA7160.
A phone charger and change were taken from a vehicle in the 5900 block of Turnabout Lane from July 26 to 27.
Guns, a gaming console, TVs and other items were stolen from the 5300 block of Columbia Road overnight from July 26 to 27.
Tires were stolen from a vehicle in the 5400 block of Columbia Road from July 26 to 27.
