The Metropolitan in Columbia Marks Milestone
New apartments will be available soon near The Mall in Columbia.

A stone’s throw from The Mall in Columbia, a large-scale project called “The Metropolitan” has been a whirlwind of activity for more than a year; and now, its leasing office is open for business.
The first apartments at the residential-commercial complex will be ready Dec. 1.
Once the project is completely built out, it will include approximately 380 apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms, with luxury touches like quartz countertops and expresso wood cabinetry. There will also be 14,000 square feet of commercial space. Three restaurants have signed on as tenants, according to the Baltimore Business Journal, which said developers didn’t offer additional details.

In September, the Metropolitan’s temporary leasing center opened on Broken Land Parkway, scheduling tours by appointment and accepting deposits for apartments that will soon be ready for residents.
The project—which marks the first large-scale construction effort in the Downtown Columbia Plan, which calls for high-density residential and commercial development—broke ground in February 2013, according to Kettler, the developer that partnered with Howard Hughes Corporation and Orchard Development Corporation in the endeavor.
