MPSSAA Baseball Brackets Include All 12 Howard County Teams

Atholton leads the way for Howard County's baseball teams with a No. 2 seed in the Class 3A state playoffs.

After a 14-5 regular baseball season, Atholton earned a weekend’s worth of rest.

The Raiders secured a No. 2 seed and a bye for the first round of the Class 3A MPSSAA playoffs. They will play the winner of the matchup between No. 7 seed Northeast and No. 10 seed River Hill. If River Hill wins its first round game, it could set up an intriguing rematch. On April 22, River Hill snapped an eight-game Atholton winning streak by defeating the Raiders 5-2.

Howard County teams are guaranteed to face each other in each of the first two rounds as No. 5 seed Hammond hosts 12-seed Wilde Lake. The winner will travel to No. 4 seed Reservoir for a second round showdown. Reservoir was given a first round bye.

In the Class 2A bracket, 4-seed Oakland Mills was matched up against 13-seed Long Reach in the first round. Ninth-seeded Marriotts Ridge will travel to take on 8-seed Largo for its first game. Seventh-seeded Glenelg will welcome 10th-seeded Lackey. The baseball tournament, for all classifications, begins Friday.
