Columbia Under Winter Weather Advisory: National Weather Service

Snow may make travel difficult in Columbia the day before Thanksgiving.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Columbia, in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

A winter weather advisory means travel may be hazardous due to snow-covered, slippery roads and limited visibility, according to the weather service.

Accumulations of 2 to 5 inches of snow are predicted in the far northern and western suburbs of Washington and Baltimore, according to the winter weather advisory, which applies to Howard, southern Baltimore and Montgomery counties.

Rain is likely in Columbia overnight, turning into snow between 8 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the weather service. The heaviest snow will fall through 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the weather service reports.

Snow will taper off late Wednesday afternoon, according to the report.
