New Sculpture Appears In Columbia

A new sculpture is now in the Merriweather District.

COLUMBIA, MD — A new sculpture recently made its home in the Merriweather District. It is called "Azlon I" and was created by sculptor Anthony Howe, whose public works are on display everywhere from San Francisco to Istanbul.

The piece is the largest kinetic sculpture in Maryland, standing 35 feet tall, according to the Baltimore Business Journal. It was installed earlier this week in the active construction site, which was teeming with workers when Patch scoped it out Thursday.

Once built, the Merriweather District will include a 12-story office building housing the headquarters for Tenable, a software company that specializes in cyber security. It will also provide high-density housing in a neighborhood where businesses will be within walking distance.
