
An Oakland Mills grad will be playing for the Miami Heat.
Greg Whittington, 22, signed a contract with the Heat in the past week, according to the NBA.com.
During his time with the Oakland Mills Scorpions, he was named the Howard County Player of the Year and helped the team achieve a 25-0 record when he was a senior.

Whittington graduated from Oakland Mills in 2011 and went on to play for the Georgetown Hoyas.
This summer, he worked out with teams around the country—Indiana, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn and Phoenix—to get into the rhythm and gain exposure, as he hadn’t played since the 2012-2013 season with the Hoyas after suffering a torn ACL, according to Comcast SportsNet.

After training to get back into the game, the undrafted free agent reportedly made an impression on the Heat and its staff.
Assistant coach Dan Craig told the Sun-Sentinel that Whittington was a “really skilled playmaker” who makes “high-IQ plays.” Craig added: “On both ends of the court...we were really impressed with him.”
