Officer Injured In Crash
A Howard County police officer was injured in a crash along US-29 Thursday afternoon. The officer wasn't engaged in a police pursuit.
COLUMBIA, MD — A Howard County police officer whose patrol vehicle rolled in a crash had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon around 2:10 p.m. along US-29 near MD-175. The police department told WMAR that the officer "lost control while attempting to avoid another vehicle that had switched lanes in front of it."
The police department clarified that the officer wasn't attempting to make a traffic stop at the time of the crash, and the officer's emergency lights and siren weren't activated.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to Shock Trauma for treatment then released.
