Cruiser Hit, 2 Hospitalized from Route 100 Crash: Police
The highway has reopened after a three-vehicle crash involving a police car, Howard County police report.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — An officer and another driver were hospitalized following a three-vehicle crash on the right shoulder of MD 100 Friday morning, according to police.
The officer was inside his patrol car at the time of the collision, which occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Route 100 west before Snowden River Parkway.
The officer had stopped a Volkswagen Jetta on the shoulder when for an unknown reason, a Cadillac Escalade left the road and hit the back of the patrol car, pushing it into the Jetta, police said.

The officer was taken to Howard County General Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to police. The 31-year-old Baltimore man driving the Escalade was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening as well.
The driver of the Jetta, a 31-year-old man from Linthicum Heights, was not injured, according to police.

As of 1:05 p.m., police said all lanes had reopened in the area.
Previous Report — An officer and two others were involved in a crash on westbound MD 100 on Friday morning, causing lane closures, police said.
After 11:30 a.m., the Howard County Police Department reported that an officer was among those involved in the collision, which occurred before Snowden River Parkway on Route 100.
The right lanes on Route 100 west were closed as authorities investigated, police said.
