Passenger Killed, Driver Hospitalized After Crash into Tree: Howard County Police
Police said a 21-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene Saturday morning off Columbia Road.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — One person died and another was hospitalized Saturday morning after a vehicle crashed into a tree off Columbia Road, the Howard County Police Department reported.
Police said that a 24-year-old Taneytown man was driving a 2014 Chevy Cruz south on Columbia Road when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road around 3 a.m. and hit a tree near Hemlock Cone Way.
Daniel Cody Lipscomb was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, officials said.

His passenger — Audrey Elizabeth Birmingham, 21 — was declared deceased at the scene, police reported.
Police said that Columbia Road was closed between Hemlock Cone Way and Keenan Drive until 8 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
