One Merriweather Gets New Tenant
A company specializing in communications infrastructure like mini cell towers and fiber-optic cable is moving into new digs in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, MD — A growing communications company is moving its regional corporate office to Columbia in the months ahead. Crown Castle will plant roots at One Merriweather.
Currently located in the Linthicum area, Crown Castle plans to move into the eight-story building at the corner of Little Patuxent and Broken Land parkway in the coming months. One Merriweather features anchor tenant MedStar Health and will have a speakeasy called 18th & 21st opening on the ground floor in May, officials say.
Crown Castle will occupy part of the third and the entire fourth floor in the building. The move could happen as early as June.

our largest markets,” Crown Castle's Vice President and Northeast Manager Lewis Kessler said in a statement.

The company specializes in small cell solutions networks. It uses inconspicuous technology like antennae attached to streetlights to enable more data to flow on wireless networks.
"It’s not unlike cars trying to crowd onto a busy interstate," according to a statement from Crown Castle about the need for the nodes. "Adding new infrastructure is the equivalent of adding new lanes—it’s how we add capacity, and it gives all that extra data a place to go."
