Oops!

It's hard to get a dog blog out!

EverythingDogBlog #186: Sometimes, . . . .

So, I saw this delightful dog logo that I wanted to feature yesterday. So, a couple of weeks ago, I wrote the organization for permission to use the logo and for a short paragraph or two about them.

I got back a long PURPOSE and MISSION (the latter was blank) and instructions to run my blog by them for final approval.

Hmmmmm. . . .

I don't do that!

I don't give others final say in what I say because my name is on the article. A couple of years ago, I interviewed 2 people, spent a lot of time on an article, contacted the corporate office and was told - Sure! Let me send you a good copy of our logo!

It never came PLUS they wanted me to hold off for several months before publishing it. OK. That was in September. In February, I contacted the office numerous times and was transferred to one person after another. Finally, I was told they would want to approve anything I wrote: consequently, I never published that, after many hours of interviewing and writing. I may still publish it, without the logo but with a link to their wonderful logo instead.

Back to yesterday

Nowadays it is so easy to ignore an email and I like to speak to people by phone for instant information and follow-ups. I finally, Tuesday of this week, emailed the first organization again and asked them to call me about the piece that I really wanted to put in on Wednesday. And, they did call!

I asked if, instead of putting their words in the article, if I could put my words about the organization - my book review has been on their website for a couple of years so they did approve my research into their purpose and mission.

They said, "OK."

Whew!

Wednesday was hectic but I did get the blog finished and tried to post it here in the boxes that Patch has for submissions. I was doing fine until I tried to make the final edit. Then, somehow, the article began to look like WordPerfect and even the Preview looked different every time I pulled it up - more and more strange spaces and empty lines.

This happens about once a month. I have finally realized that if I just wait, the content in the boxes turns into the correct formatting and I can continue on. Not this time. I tried off and on over a one-hour period until my time ran out. Then I emailed the publisher with my frustrations (still waiting to hear about the glitches).

I could, of course, retype the entire thing into all the boxes but I no longer had the time - so, no cool blog on Wednesday. The world will just have to wait until I have the time to redo all my work.

Maybe next week. So, stick around! And, in the meantime, take your dog and best friend for a nice long walk. The weather is beautiful and I just might see you two (or three) out there!
