Paved Trail Impacted By Stormwater Pond Project In Howard County

A stormwater management pond project slated to start Monday will affect the existing paved trail in Howard County.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A construction project to improve the stormwater management pond near 6364 Tamar Drive in the Village of Long Reach in Columbia, should begin Monday. The project will include the removal and replacement of the existing spillway to bring the pond into compliance with current Maryland Department of the Environment requirements. Weather permitting, the project should be completed by late May 2023.

While the project is not expected to impact traffic flow, signs will be posted near the project area to advise motorists and pedestrians of the construction. The width of the adjacent paved trail will be reduced to allow for the pond retrofit.

The project is funded through the county’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
