Pedestrian Dies From Dobbin Road Crash: Police

Police said a woman who had been crossing Dobbin Road was killed Wednesday evening after a crash.

COLUMBIA, MD — A pedestrian has succumbed to her injuries as the result of a crash in Columbia, police said Wednesday. The collision occurred at 7 p.m. in the area of Dobbin at McGaw roads.

Maria Erlinda Ulloa Licona, 57, of Columbia, was pronounced deceased at a local hospital, officials said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, police said that Licona had been wearing dark clothing and was crossing Dobbin Road while not in an intersection or crosswalk when a 2011 Nissan Altima hit her.

Licona was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Altima — Sung Jong Kim, 34, of Reisterstown — was not injured and remained at the scene, officials reported.

Dobbin Road was closed between McGaw Road and Stanford Boulevard until approximately 9 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, police said Wednesday evening, and no charges have been filed.
