Pedestrian Path In Long Reach To Close For Construction

A portion of a path in Long Reach will be closed so that crews can install erosion control devices, including a stone plunge pool.

From HoCo: A jointly funded construction project between Howard County and the Columbia Association to replace the dam infrastructure and embankment at a pond at the end of Prophecy Place in the Village of Long Reach in Columbia is expected to begin on or about Wednesday, August 1.

The existing metal outlet structure and pipe will be replaced with a concrete outlet structure and pipe. A stone plunge pool will be constructed at the downstream outlet for erosion control and woody vegetation will be removed from the embankment. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by early November.

Signs will be posted at the project site to advise motorists of the construction. The project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic; however, a portion of the pedestrian path along the dam from the end of Farstar Place to the end of Prophecy Place will be closed during the project.
