People Flee Burning Home After Garage Fire Spreads To House
Three people have been displaced after a fire ignited in a detached garage and quickly spread to the nearby home, officials say.
JESSUP, MD — A garage fire erupted early Wednesday evening and spread to the nearby home, prompting a call for help from a neighboring county's fire department.
Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Howard County firefighters were called to a home located in the 8100 block of Dorsey Run Road. Firefighters found a detached garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire having already spread to the back of the nearby home, according to the county fire and rescue department.
Due to the intensity of the fire, a second alarm was sounded for additional personnel and resources to help fight the fire. Units from Anne Arundel County arrived and help battle the blaze.
